Social Emotional Learning
Mood Meter
All Archer students check in first thing in the morning and throughout the day. It is a powerful practice that supports emotional regulation, communication, and understanding in the classroom. These check-ins provide students with a structured opportunity to express how they are feeling, share their thoughts, and connect with their peers and teachers. This routine helps educators identify students who may need additional support, fostering a sense of safety and belonging. By regularly checking in, students become more self-aware, develop stronger emotional intelligence, and build the skills needed to navigate their day with greater focus and resilience. This practice not only enhances individual well-being but also contributes to a positive, empathetic classroom environment where all students can thrive.
Morning Meeting
After morning check ins, Archer students engage in their Morning Meeting Routine. Morning meetings are a valuable ritual within the classroom that set a positive tone for the day. During these sessions, students gather together to engage in activities that build community, promote social-emotional learning, and foster a sense of belonging. Morning meetings include greetings, sharing, group activities, and discussions that help students connect with one another, express their thoughts and feelings, and develop important communication skills. This daily practice not only enhances classroom cohesion but also prepares students for a productive day of learning by creating a supportive environment where each student feels valued and understood.
