SEL

The Sanford Harmony Curriculum is a well-regarded SEL program designed to foster positive relationships among students through interactive lessons and activities. By focusing on inclusivity, communication, and problem-solving, Sanford Harmony empowers students to build healthier relationships, resolve conflicts, and create supportive classroom environments, ultimately contributing to their overall academic and personal success.

Phonemic Awareness

The Heggerty Phonemic Awareness curriculum is a comprehensive and systematic program designed to build foundational reading skills in students from Kindergarten through 2nd grade. By focusing on the development of phonemic awareness—the ability to hear, identify, and manipulate individual sounds in spoken words—Heggerty equips young learners with the critical skills necessary for reading success. Through daily lessons that are engaging and easy to implement, students enhance their ability to decode words, improve their spelling, and build a strong foundation for future literacy.

Phonics

FUNdations is a research-based phonics program designed for students in grades K-3, providing a strong foundation in reading and spelling. Through systematic and explicit instruction, FUNdations emphasizes the core elements of phonics, including letter-sound correspondence, decoding, encoding, and fluency. The program is structured to be both engaging and effective, with multisensory activities that support diverse learning styles. Reading & Writing

HMH Into Reading is a comprehensive literacy program designed to support reading and writing instruction for students in grades K-5. With a blend of rich literature, engaging informational texts, and purposeful writing activities, HMH Into Reading fosters a love of reading while building essential literacy skills. The program provides differentiated instruction tailored to meet the diverse needs of students, ensuring that all learners can succeed. Grades k-3 Math

Eureka Math is a rigorous, standards-aligned curriculum designed to build a deep understanding of mathematical concepts for students. Science

Physical Education

The NYC Physical Education Comprehensive Framework is designed to guide physical education instruction across all grade levels in New York City schools. Aligned with national standards, this curriculum outlines the essential skills, knowledge, and activities that students need to develop physical literacy and a lifelong commitment to health and fitness. The Scope and Sequence provides a balanced approach, integrating a variety of physical activities, including team sports, individual fitness, and movement skills, while also emphasizing social-emotional learning, teamwork, and personal wellness. By following this structured progression, educators can ensure that students of all abilities receive a high-quality, inclusive physical education experience that supports their physical, mental, and social development.

COMMON CORE LEARNING STANDARDS

New York State has adopted the Common Core Learning Standards, which are available for viewing here. The New York State P-12 Common Core Learning Standards (CCLS) are internationally-benchmarked and evidence-based standards. These standards serve as a consistent set of expectations for what students should learn and be able to do, so that we can ensure that every student across New YorkState is on track for college and career readiness. The New York State Education Department (NYSED) will continue to develop educator resources to support the successful implementation of the CCLS in classrooms across New York State over the next several years.
